Melbourne Town Hall Upgrade

WORKS: Main Hall Switchboard Replacement, Upgrade of Clock Tower & Other Refurbishment Works

Client: City of Melbourne & Transfield Services - Melbourne Town Hall

Scope of Works

Audit existing Town Hall switchboards and trace circuits throughout main hall complex.

Design & Construct new Main Hall switchboard and incorporate all required services.

Design & Construct new lighting control and dimming bypass system for Main Hall operation, incorporating the existing Dynalite / DMX Dimming arrangement.

Refurbish iconic MTH Clock Tower electrics, remove asbestos lined switchboard, install new switchboard and sub-main and trial computer controlled LED clock tower lighting.

Refurbish Main Hall Power Outlets to original condition to Heritage approval.

Upgrade wiring to chandeliers and Main Hall power outlets for RCD operation.

Rewire Dynalite / DMX control rach to integrate with new lighting control requirements.

Co-ordinate 72hr shut down timeline for switchboard replacement phase of project with City of Melbourne, Transfield Services and Epicure.

Commission switchboard, switchgear, RCD circuit protection and lighting control system.

Decommission and remove redundant services and cabling from switch-room and under stage.

Re-label switchgear, cables and accessories to City of Melbourne standards.


To provide round the clock works to ensure that the Main Hall switchboard would be successfully replaced within a 3 day window between major scheduled events.

To ensure existing Dynalite/DMX lighting control would integrate successfully with new lightiing Control Requirments & RCD protection.
